We strongly recommend hiring a professional wallpaper installer for your Shop Seif wallpaper. While installation may look straightforward, it involves several technical details that are easy to underestimate, like proper wall preparation, adhesive application, seam alignment, and pattern matching all require experience to get right. A professional installer will ensure a flawless finish and, just as importantly, protect your wall from damage during the finishing process.
Before production
- Measure the full width and the greatest floor-to-ceiling height of each wall.
- Do not deduct doors, windows or other openings. Label every wall and send clear photographs.
- Confirm the final dimensions, design, scale and colourway with Shop Seif before production begins.
Before installation
- Check all supplied panels before applying adhesive. Confirm the sequence, orientation and overall image.
- If a panel appears damaged, incomplete or inconsistent, stop and contact Shop Seif before installation.
- Allow the panels and room to reach normal indoor conditions before work begins.
Prepare the wall
- Before the installation date, please have the wall prepped with one coat of thermal insulation paint (دهان حراري) followed by two coats of Senatone (سيناتون) plaster/filler, that gives you the smooth, ready surface the wallpaper needs to go up cleanly.
- The surface must be sound, smooth, clean, dry and free of dust, grease, old adhesive and loose material.
- Repair cracks and holes, sand smooth and seal porous or unevenly absorbent surfaces with a compatible wallcovering primer.
- Resolve damp, leaks or condensation before installing. Do not cover an active moisture problem.
Adhesive and installer
Use only an adhesive confirmed as compatible with both the supplied wallcovering and the prepared wall. Product constructions can vary, so do not assume an adhesive or application method from another project. A professional wallcovering installer is recommended.
Panel sequence
- Lay out the panels in their labelled order and identify the starting position.
- Establish a true vertical guide; do not rely on a corner being perfectly straight.
- Cut the wallpaper sheets slightly longer than the height of the wall, to allow room for adjustment.
- Carefully trim the white strip edges on the sides of each sheet before installation, using a sharp cutter.
Alignment & Application
- Start from the top of the wall. Overlap each sheet by 2 cm to ensure seamless alignment and avoid gaps.
- Apply adhesive to the wall or the wallpaper, as instructed by the manufacturer.
- Smooth each sheet using a wallpaper smoother to eliminate air bubbles.
Finishing
- After overlapping the second sheet over the first (by 2 cm), use a sharp cutter to trim the overlapping area directly on the wall, then remove the excess strip for a clean, seamless finish.
- Trim any excess wallpaper at the top and bottom edges for a neat finish.
- If the wallpaper is to be installed in a space exposed to humidity or moisture like powder rooms or kitchens, it is advised to paint the wallpaper with a coat of transparent matte varnish in 1-2 days after wallpaper is installed.
After installation
- Allow the wallcovering to dry naturally with gentle ventilation and a stable room temperature.
- Avoid strong direct heat, forced drying and excessive handling while the adhesive cures.
- Keep spare material and the panel plan for possible future repairs.
